On the outskirts of Granada in southern Spain, there's a fair few people who live in caves. Pretty civilised caves, as things go. They've got doors, windows and all sorts of shanty buildings built outside them.

Barcelona: Fajardo, 27 October 2014

Fajardo played the guitar and sang his lungs out to a very appreciative crowd at Can Masdeu on the outskirts of Barcelona. He sweated a lot, and got four encores.

Barcelona: Barnakustica Trio, 25 October 2014

In in the centre of Barcelona busking is illegal except for those who have a permit. I don't know what the critiera are for giving out permits, but from what I've seen one of the prerequisites must be 'easy listening'. Barnakustica Trio seem to be veering between that and jazz freakout.

On the platform of Narbonne train station I met Hermanos Millar. They play Venezuelan and Chilean songs and had been on tour around western Europe for three months.

Girona: Daniel Bica, 23 October 2014

Daniel Bica was hiding down an alleyway in Girona, playing his guitar. I suspect this is because in Girona buskers need a permit, and Daniel Bica doesn't seem like the kind of man who believes in permits.

Cork: The Ovens, 18 October 2014

A group of three men in a pub in Cork were playing tunes fast, quite possibly faster than I'd ever heard anyone play tunes before. A man at the bar informed me that this was Donegal style: "the further north you go, the faster it gets".
